People often say that some of the best ideas come to them in the shower. As the inventor of a shower-improving product, I think I am uniquely qualified to say this is absolutely true. 

Why does this happen? Science and many personal anecdotes both point to the shower time as an opportunity to relax and let your mind wander. I happened to have the opposite experience when thinking up the idea behind Rinseroo, a flexible, no-installation shower hose attachment. As someone with multiple showers to clean and dogs to bathe, my inspiration was rooted in desire to solve my problems. I was rinsing shower walls with a small cup, getting soaked while cleaning, and dealing with some VERY upset pups. There HAD to be a better way. 

After brainstorming and a few great suggestions from my son, I had a prototype that worked. Eager to share our solution with others, we dove into the project together and built a brand that will soon be featured on ABC’s Shark Tank! 

The journey here has taught us both many lessons and I’d like to share some insights from MY experience inventing in the shower. 

Keep your eyes on the challenges around you: 

Obstacles force you to think differently. When you keep your eyes on the challenges, you’re constantly inspired to explore uncharted territory and develop unique solutions. 

Solve a problem: 

Inventions that address real needs find an immediate audience. If your creation solves a pressing problem, people are more likely to adopt it, ensuring its marketability.

Listen to those around you: 

Every problem has multiple angles. Others may see gaps, opportunities, or improvements that you missed. 

Don’t give up: 

When inventing, you will likely face some unexpected obstacles. If you find yourself in need of a shower to destress, remember that setbacks are an opportunity to learn, refine, and improve your invention.
